A popular Nollywood actress, Biola Fowosere, has refused to go naked on set in a movie production titled, “Olosho Laafin”, (a prostitute queen).
The Yoruba actress fondly called Biola felt so bad that the producer identified as Bayo, lied to her about the role she was scheduled to act, saying that she was told that she would act as a queen not as a prostitute.
All aggressive efforts by the producer and other actors/actresses to convince her to accept the role proved abortive as she vowed that nothing would make her expose any part of her body including her cleavages and hips.
Two women, one from Oyo town ordered her to act the part, saying there was no big deal in exposing her body as another actress demonstrated by exposing her cleavages. The woman referred to as Iya Oyo said, “All women actresses expose their body. There is nothing in this body that you cannot expose. See, I am lowering my cloth to show my breast. This is my breast.”
A man also impressed it upon her to act the part, promising that the scene would be made very short.
Upon her refusal to yield to the appeals, her colleagues assaulted her and the producer violently dragged and push her, saying that she must act the scene. “Where do you think you are going? You are not going anywhere. You must act the role assigned to you. Compulsorily, you will act it. I am not collecting the money I have paid you. What I want is that you proceed straight away and act naked as expected.”
As Biola was about to take her leave, the producer of the film seized her car key and mobile phone after he has refused a refund from the actress, saying that compulsorily Biola must act the scene.
Biola explained, “When I was called for the work, I asked them about my role. They said I will be a queen in the movie. That is why I came to this place with costumes meant for a queen. As you can see, I came in queen’s attire with royal beads. They said I will be a queen in the palace. I asked them further if it is a comedy Queen or a normal queen. Now, on the set, they are telling me that I have to go nude, I have to be naked. I will never do such. Nothing will make me do such. I am ready to give them back the money I have been paid me. I will do the transfer immediately. I am a professional actress, not a prostitute. I can’t act as a prostitute part. I cannot expose my body. I want to return your money and if you are not taking the money, then I have to leave here.”
In response to her explanation, the producer argued, “I believe Biola was given a script for this movie. The script has “Olosho Laafin” as the title of the movie. I believe Biola must have read the script. What I asked you to do is simple. You will cover your breast and part of your private part. You don’t have money because you are not doing what Lagos girls are doing to make money. This is the reason you are so poor. This is the reason you don’t have a car or a house. This born again Christian you are doing is destroying you.”
Biola replied, “Thank you, God will surprise you. You are only challenging my God. I will never expose my body. I have not bought a house or a car, but I am fine with my God. God will surprise you, Bayo, I will not expose my body. Come and collect your money. Did you tell me that I will expose my body when you were discussing the job with me? You did not. Come and collect the money. ”
