University of Ibadan (UI) has elevated Dr Babatunde Raphael Ojebuyi of the Department of Communication and Language Arts (CLA), Faculty of Arts, to the rank of Full Professor.
Professor Ojebuyi is a distinguished scholar whose teaching and research interests span communication and media studies, journalism, health communication, new media, media theories and ethics, media research methods, and development communication.
He earned his BA, MA, and PhD in Communication and Language Arts from the institution.
An accomplished academic, Ojebuyi has published extensively in reputable local and international journals, including Critical Arts, Journal of Health Management, SAGE Open, Journal of Communication, publications by IGI Global, and Palgrave Macmillan.
He previously served as a postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Communication, Faculty of Human and Social Sciences, North-West University.
Beyond academia, Professor Ojebuyi has worked as a communication consultant for several organisations and has reviewed scholarly works for notable journals such as Ibadan Journal of Humanistic Studies, SAGE Open, New Media and Society, Legon Journal of Humanities (Ghana), and Journal of African Media Studies (UK).
News of his promotion has sparked widespread celebrations on social media, with colleagues, family members, students, and friends sharing congratulatory messages in honour of the achievement.
Among the well-wishers is Professor Olumuyiwa Olusesan Familusi, the immediate past Head of Department of Religious Studies in the nation’s Premier University, who wrote: “Behold, a brand new professor.
