The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), has declared a nationwide indefinite strike action with effect from Tuesday, October 3, 2023, to force the Federal Government led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to address the nation’s economic woes suffocating Nigerians.
TUC, in a letter dated Thursday, September 28, 2023, and titled, “Notice of Indefinite Nationwide Strike, Request for Maximum Mobilisation”, said, “Following the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held on September 26, 2023, and the subsequent joint press conference with the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), we are officially declaring an indefinite nationwide strike, effective Tuesday, October 3, 2023.”
The Union leadership enjoined all the affiliates to commence maximum mobilisation of its members without delay saying, “Kindly issue circulars to your members to proceed with the action and report back to the secretariat.”
The Union also ordered state councils to start preparation and put in place a monitoring team for a successful action.
