President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has celebrated Vice President Kashim Shettima on the occasion of his 59th birthday, describing him as a dependable partner and exemplary leader whose dedication continues to strengthen Nigeria’s democratic and development journey.
In a tribute released on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, President Tinubu commended Shettima’s courage, loyalty, and unwavering belief in Nigeria’s greatness, noting that his service to the nation has been remarkable both in elected office and in his current role as Vice President.
“You served the people of Borno, your home state, excellently as Governor for eight years and later as Senator representing Borno Central in the National Assembly. In both roles, you showed that leadership is service, not privilege, even in the face of immense challenges,” Tinubu said.
The President highlighted Shettima’s vibrancy and competence, recalling his decision to choose him as his running mate in the 2023 presidential election as one guided by trust in his abilities.
“Every day, as Vice President, you have justified that choice by strengthening our work, bringing fresh perspectives, and upholding our commitment to Nigerians,” he added.
Tinubu credited Shettima’s partnership as vital to the administration’s progress in driving food security, economic reforms, and attracting international investments under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
He also assured Nigerians that both leaders remain committed to unlocking new trade corridors and delivering more schools, hospitals, and jobs.
“Our relationship transcends official duties. It is a bridge across regions and traditions, united in purpose and service. You remind us of what is possible when Nigeria comes first, an example worthy of emulation by those who aspire to lead,” Tinubu stated.
Wishing the Vice President renewed strength and wisdom, Tinubu said: “On this occasion of your 59th birthday, I heartily wish you renewed vitality, wisdom and more years of impact. Happy birthday, Kashim, and many happy returns!”
