The Ona Iwa Mimo North American Sub-Conference has announced the death of the Spiritual Head of Ona Iwa Mimo Worldwide, His Eminence Baba Aladura Joseph Aderibigbe Ibikunle, at the age of 88.
The announcement was contained in an official statement dated August 31, 2026, which said the revered cleric died on Monday after 21 years of service as the Supreme Head of Ona Iwa Mimo Cherubim and Seraphim Church Worldwide.
Baba Aladura Ibikunle was ordained as the Supreme Head of Ona Iwa Mimo Worldwide on August 13, 2005, succeeding the late Baba Aladura Jacob Amao Oyesiji.
During his tenure, the church described him as a dedicated spiritual leader who faithfully served its members and contributed significantly to the growth and advancement of the denomination.
The statement said his leadership was marked by dedication, spiritual exploits and a commitment to the church, leaving an enduring legacy among members and others who benefited from his life and ministry.
The church described his death as a significant loss to Ona Iwa Mimo, the wider Cherubim and Seraphim family, and all those who were touched by his ministry.
It expressed gratitude to Almighty God for the life, leadership and legacy of the late spiritual head while praying for comfort for his family and strength for the church’s leadership and entire membership.
The church also drew comfort from the biblical passage in Psalm 116:15, which states: “Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.”
An indigene of Saki, Oyo State, Baba Aladura Ibikunle led Ona Iwa Mimo for more than two decades. The church, one of the established white-garment Christian denominations in southwestern Nigeria, has a presence in Nigeria and other parts of the world.
Burial Arrangements
Baba Aladura Ibikunle will be laid to rest on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at the church’s International Headquarters in Obaago, Igboho, Oyo State.
According to the burial programme released by the church, the remains of the late spiritual leader will be moved from Igboho to Otu and Saki before returning to Igboho on Friday, September 4. The movement of the remains is scheduled to commence at 8:00 a.m.
A Service of Songs will also be held on Friday at the Ona Iwa Mimo Cherubim and Seraphim Church in Otu, Durodoluwa District, Oyo State.
The main burial ceremony is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on Saturday at the International Headquarters in Obaago, Igboho.
Following the burial service, the remains will be committed to mother earth at the burial ground designated for Baba Aladuras within the International Headquarters.
The church has invited its members, friends, associates and well-wishers to participate in the funeral activities as it honours the late spiritual leader and pays its final respects to a man who served as the spiritual head of Ona Iwa Mimo Worldwide for 21 years.
