Veteran Nollywood actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, has regained his freedom after spending over three years in prison for child molestation.
The actor was released on Friday, November 14, 2025, sparking a wave of reactions across social media.
Baba Ijesha was sentenced to 16 years in prison on July 14, 2022, by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo of the Lagos State Judiciary after being found guilty in a case brought forward by comedienne Adekola Adekanya, widely known as Princess. Actress Iyabo Ojo also led public advocacy for justice.
Following his release, many Nigerians took to social media to express their views, with a majority sending congratulatory messages.
Alhaja Otoniwealth wrote: “I’m happy for you. Congratulations, sir. That is human beings for you. Please know your boundary now. It is well with you.”
Rasheed Owolewa posted: “I pray we don’t do 2026 New Year in prison for whoever drops hearts.”
Similarly, Fikayo Hola and Christiana Adebola commented: “Congratulations, Baba Ijesha.”
Another user, Mutiat Olabisi, added: “Congratulations, sir. Ope ni fun Olorun Oba.” (We thank the King of Heaven.),
