The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, on Monday, March 24, 2026, formally decorated 30 senior officers recently promoted to the ranks of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) and Commissioner of Police (CP), reaffirming a commitment to merit-based leadership and institutional reform within the Force.
The ceremony, held at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall in Abuja, follows the recent elevation of 84 senior officers, including 54 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCP) and Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACP).
Addressing the officers, the IGP described the promotions as a recognition of professionalism, discipline, and capacity, stressing that they represent more than rewards.

He charged the newly decorated officers to demonstrate exemplary leadership and enforce strict standards, emphasising a zero-tolerance policy for indiscipline, corruption, and dereliction of duty across commands.
Reiterating his reform agenda, Disu underscored the importance of people-centered policing, noting that respect for human rights and community engagement remain fundamental operational principles.
He also announced that all newly promoted AIGs will participate in a mandatory Strategic Leadership Retreat beginning March 24, 2026.
