The Oyo State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with a violent armed robbery attack on a couple in the Bashorun area of Ibadan.
The incident, which occurred on June 15, 2025, around 3:00 p.m., involved three heavily armed men who confronted a man identified as Dotun Agaba (real name withheld) and his wife, Jiji “F,” outside their residence. The assailants reportedly forced the couple into their apartment at gunpoint, carting away valuables including 52 grams of gold jewelry worth about ₦7.5 million, an iPhone 13, an iPhone 16 Pro Max, and other items.
The gang also illegally transferred ₦4.5 million from the couple’s MoniePoint bank account into an account belonging to a female accomplice before fleeing the scene on a motorbike.
Police said the case was first reported to the Ikolaba Police Division before being transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Iyaganku, Ibadan, where detectives launched a manhunt for the suspects.
On September 3, 2025, around 5:00 p.m., operatives arrested the gang leader, 35-year-old Omole Ridwan, and 45-year-old Adegbile Adewumi, the female whose account was used for the fraudulent transfer.
During the raid, police recovered an AK-47 rifle (with an empty magazine), a double-barrel pistol, a metal object resembling a gun, an axe, and two cutlasses allegedly used during the robbery.
According to investigators, both suspects have given voluntary confessions detailing their roles in the attack and providing leads on the whereabouts of other gang members still at large.
The Oyo State Police Command assured residents that efforts are ongoing to track down the remaining suspects and bring them to justice.
