The Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, CP Adebowale Lawal, has ordered the immediate redeployment of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Enu-Owa Division for alleged unprofessional conduct in handling a recent case involving a social media influencer, Adefolarin Ayomiposi, popularly known as Mandykiss.
The action followed a viral video showing Mandykiss recording and taking photographs of suspects in police custody at the Enu-Owa Division, a development that has drawn widespread criticism from the public and rights advocates.
According to a statement issued and signed by the Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka Olushola, Apreliminary findings revealed that no police personnel were involved in the purported arrest of the suspects, identified as Akinwole Sabitu and her daughter, Akinwole Oyindamola, who were accused of alleged cyberbullying.
Instead, Mandykiss was reportedly assisted by her internet followers, who provided information that led to her arrest.
The influencer was said to have recorded a video inside her vehicle while conveying the suspects to the police station before taking their photographs at the station and posting them on social media, acts deemed inappropriate and contrary to police procedures and the constitutional principle of presumption of innocence.
Describing the DPO’s handling of the case as “a clear lapse in supervisory responsibility and professional judgment,” CP Lawal directed the officer’s immediate redeployment.
He stressed that the Command would not tolerate any action capable of eroding public trust in the Nigeria Police Force.
The Commissioner warned that recording or photographing suspects in custody violates ethical standards and established procedural guidelines.
He reminded all officers in the Command to remain professional, impartial, and law-abiding in the discharge of their duties, while safeguarding the rights of both suspects and complainants.
He stated, “The conduct of the said officer does not reflect the discipline, integrity, and core values of the Nigeria Police Force”, reaffirming his commitment to enforcing discipline and accountability across the Command.
