Notable Nigerian politicians have described Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, as an exemplary leader, whose priority is good governance and deliverance of democratic dividends to all and sundry.
These were parts of the views expressed while celebrating the governor, who turned 53 on Friday December 25, 2020.
According to a statement signed by the publicity secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kola Ologbondiyan, Makinde has distinguished himself as an extraordinary personality, a good hearted individual and excellent manager of resources, whose sacrifices for the good of his people is a clear demonstration that the true essence of statesmanship lies in utilising its exceptional opportunities for the benefit of others rather than self.
The statement stated, “Our party is indeed proud of Governor Makinde’s efforts in elevating the living standard of his people as well as his resounding achievements in infrastructural development and other critical sectors of education, healthcare, transportation, agriculture, water resources among others. Moreover, Governor Makinde has also shown himself a very loyal party man, who has continued to make personal sacrifices for the development of our party”.
Also, the former Vice President Atiku Abubakah said, “I am glad to celebrate my friend, Governor Seyi Makinde on his birthday today. Sharing the same day of birthday with the harbinger of a great faith is symbolic. While I congratulate you on this double celebration, I urge you to continue the good work with even greater vigour”.
In his words, Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Debo Ogundoyin described the governor as outstanding, exemplary and always ready to go many miles to fulfill his promises, improves lives and makes people happy.
Others, who joined in the celebration of the governor were: former Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki, Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa and the Oyo State Deputy Governor, Engr. Rauf Aderemi Olaniyan.
Reacting, Governor Makinde said, “I sincerely appreciate every text, call, message, good wish and gift I received as I turned a year older yesterday. God bless you all for your kindness and thoughtfulness. You made my day!”
