Nollywood actor, Ebun Oloyede, aka Olaiya Igwe, has openly confessed that he went naked at the Lagos Bar Beach to invoke divine intervention for the presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to emerge victorious at the nation’s last general election.
Olaiya Igwe, on social media, told the public that he did not regret the appeasement he did at the beach on behalf of Tinubu, stressing that he did it as a payback for the good things the president had previously done for him.
He said that there is no difference between him, who went naked for Tinubu at the beach, and those who voted for Tinubu, saying that he and those who voted for Tinubu to emerge as the nation’s president deserve to be caused. “Some elderly women who also prayed for Tinubu will also have a part in the causes. All that voted for Tinubu will have their share of the causes”, he said.
Olaiya Igwe, who spoke in Yoruba Language on Facebook said, “Because of things he has done for me, health-wise, and I received a revelation to pray for him at the beach, which I did. I was criticised and cursed after I did, but I didn’t care. I wasn’t annoyed with him (Tinubu), and neither did I react negatively to him. I knew the criticism was inevitable because I am a much-loved actor. People who didn’t expect my actions must have been shocked, wondering why I did what I did. I know the criticism would have come from Bola Tinubu’s rival parties.”
“I knew earlier on that people would be mad at me before doing what I did. People who did not expect such will wonder why Olaiya would descend so low. Those who frown at what I did are not in the political party Tinubu belongs. Also, those who are causing me are those who have grudges against me. Your reactions towards me are right. Had it been that after Tinubu won the election, things were working well, you would not have abused me this much and you would love me more. But when Tinubu disappointed you and your expectations from Tinubu failed, you renewed your causes on me. You are not guilty. Nigerians renew their causes on me because they are groaning in pain under Tinubu’s administration. Nigerians home and abroad are not happy with the present situation in Nigeria”, he added.
Olaiya Igwe addressed Tinubu saying, “Daddy, I do not regret the role I played in your emergence as our president because you have also helped me earlier. Let me tell you that Nigerians are not happy with you. People are crying. You have failed them.”
He advised Tinubu to work on how to meet the expectations of Nigerians so that Nigerians would stop causing him and the president.
He concluded his speech by apologising to the general public for going naked at the beach.
