Orowole Samuel Kolapo, popularly known as Kola Onifoto, has died following a motorcycle accident on March 2, 2026.
Kola, 35, had shared on Facebook on February 28, that he was embarking on his first solo trip out of Lagos, headed for Akure. Then on March 1, he made a post saying, “Big shoutout to those who have ridden their bikes to every state in this country, to Africa and across the world especially women. My eye see wheeen”.
Hours later, friends reported that he had been involved in an accident and was admitted to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) emergency unit at 7UP, Ojota, Lagos. He was subsequently transferred to Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), where efforts to save him proved unsuccessful.
Just weeks earlier, on January 15, Kola had celebrated a personal milestone, announcing that he had fulfilled his dream of becoming a biker, posting a photo of himself beside his new motorcycle. In the post, he wrote: “I recently became a new biker. One of my life dreams clocked and achieved! I won’t fall and die on this—Amen!”
Beyond his passion for motorcycles, Kola was a multifaceted individual. He was a photographer, a writer, a naval officer, and worked as an Uber driver, leaving a lasting impression on friends, colleagues, and the communities he engaged with.
His sudden passing has prompted an outpouring of grief on social media, with friends and family calling for prayers in his memory.
