Political turbulence rocking Kano State has hit Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso, son of former Kano State Governor and national leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, as unfolding political events in the state has forced him to resign from his position as the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development and as a member of the Kano State Executive Council under Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
Recently, his boss, the Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, fell apart with the commissioner’s father, who doubled as the former governor’s godfather and defected from NNPP to the All Progressive Congress (APC).
Musa Kwankwaso described his godson’s defection as a betrayal.
Announcing his decision in a statement released today, Mustapha said his resignation was taken with a heavy heart, expressing appreciation to the governor for the opportunity to serve the people of the state.
He thanked Governor Yusuf for the trust reposed in him, noting that his time in office provided valuable experiences and lessons.
He also expressed hope that the welfare of youths in Kano State would continue to receive priority attention.
Kwankwaso further stated his confidence in the sustainability and growth of sports development programmes and initiatives in the state, while praying for continued progress.
He concluded by offering prayers for Kano State, wishing the government and its people success, and asking Allah to continue to bless the state.
