Veteran Nollywood actress Idowu Philips, popularly known as Iya Rainbow, has made an emotional appeal to the Federal Government to take urgent and decisive action to address the worsening security situation in the country.
Speaking in a video that has attracted attention on social media, the respected actress expressed concern over the increasing cases of kidnapping, violence, and the suffering of innocent Nigerians, particularly children caught in the nation’s security crisis.
Iya Rainbow lamented what she described as the apparent lack of urgency in tackling the problem, warning that the situation is becoming increasingly dangerous.
“Federal Government, we beg you, do something about the problem at hand. It is as if we no longer care about human life. We have been praying without ceasing, but we should not take this issue lightly because it is becoming too deadly,” she said.
The actress expressed particular concern for young children who have become victims of insecurity, questioning why innocent minors should be subjected to such hardship.
“What offence have children of two or three years committed? Please think about us. Government should rise to the occasion. It is getting too late, and people are suffering,” she added.
Iya Rainbow also appealed to those responsible for holding victims captive to show compassion and release them, while expressing hope that divine intervention would help bring an end to the crisis.
“The government should plead with them to release those in captivity. God will help us. Please, government, rise now and act,” she said.
Her comments come amid growing public concern over persistent cases of kidnapping, banditry, and other security challenges affecting different parts of the country.
