The Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has expressed shock and disbelief over the death of his campaign media aide, Joe Anatune.
Anatune died on Saturday a few days after his 62nd birthday.
He was appointed on April 19, as the MD/CEO of Anambra State Signage and Advertising Agency by Soludo.
A statement on Sunday by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr Christian Aburime, said the governor received the news of Anatune’s sudden death with deep pains and shock.
He described Anatune as one of the foremost Apostles of the Soludo project with uncommon strength and courage to deliver on any given assignment.
He said, “Anatune’s personal sacrifices during the electioneering campaign were not only exceptional but highly commendable. He spearheaded the Soludo Promoters Forum and for two years used the platform to engage the professionals into mainstream politics.”
According to the governor, the government and the good people of Anambra State will sorely miss Joe Anatune.
Soludo also commiserated with his wife, Mrs Ify Anatune and children, the Anatune family and the Awa community over the sudden loss of their illustrious son.
Reacting to the development, the National Executive Committee of the All Progressives Grand Alliance has commiserated with the governor.
In a statement titled, “Accept our condolences”, issued on Sunday, the party’s National Chairman, Dr. Victor Oye, said, “I write on behalf of the National Executive Committee of our great party, APGA, to commiserate with you on the sudden demise of your aide, Joe Anatune, which sad event occurred on Saturday, April 30, 2022.
“That he died less than two weeks after his elevation to the position of the Managing Director, Anambra State Signage and Advertising Agency (ANSAA) makes his exit more painful and mysterious.
“But what could we have done in circumstances like this when no human effort would have reversed the incident? All we should do at this time is to place our hope and trust in God – the Author and Finisher of our faith.
“We pray to Him to grant Joe’s soul eternal repose in heaven, considering that he died within the Easter Period when Christ offered his life as an oblation for the salvation and sanctification of mankind.
“We urge you and members of your government to take heart and bear the tragic incident with Christian fortitude while hoping that he would rise with Christ in the morning of the Resurrection.
“Accept our deepest condolences and, please, extend the same to his family.”
