Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have rearrested two suspected child abductors, Rose Daniel from Enugu State and Blessings John from Benue State, while allegedly attempting to escape with a four-year-old girl in Kuje.
The suspects were paraded by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Joseph Adeh, who said the operatives rescued the child and reunited her with her family.
According to the police, Daniel and John are part of a criminal syndicate allegedly involved in abducting children from different communities within the FCT and selling them outside the territory.
Adeh said the two suspects had previously been arrested in 2025 for allegedly abducting four children, including a set of twins and two other children from different communities, among them Lugbe.
The police spokesman said two of the four children were subsequently recovered, while the remaining two were allegedly sold to buyers in Port Harcourt for N1.5 million each, making N3 million from the two children.
The suspects, who are natives of Enugu and Benue states but residents of the FCT, were prosecuted and served four-month prison terms at the Kuje Prison.
However, Adeh said the suspects allegedly returned to child abduction after regaining their freedom and were arrested again following the latest operation in Kuje.
He alleged that the suspects had adopted a deceptive method to abduct children, including wearing hijabs while carrying out their operations.
According to him, when they identify a child they intend to abduct, they allegedly use the hijab to cover the child before taking the victim away.
The police spokesman said the suspects allegedly sell the abducted children outside the FCT, adding that investigations were ongoing to uncover other members of the network and establish the full extent of their activities.
Adeh said the rescued four-year-old girl had been reunited with her family, while the two suspects would be charged to court after the completion of investigations.
The latest arrest, the police said, highlights the continued efforts of security operatives to dismantle criminal networks involved in child abduction and trafficking within the nation’s capital.
