The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned four men before the Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja over alleged fraud and theft involving millions of naira.
The suspects: Adetunji Mathew Temidayo, Victor Damilare Olaomo, Douglas Agorom Ikwugwu and Arowolo Adeniyi Abiodun: were arraigned by the EFCC’s Lagos Zonal Directorate 1 before two different judges.
Mathew and Olaomo were arraigned before Justice O. A. Okunuga on a five-count charge bordering on conspiracy to commit felony and stealing amounting to N91,749,230.
According to the EFCC, the offences contravene Sections 409 and 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
One of the counts alleges that Mathew, while working as an accountant at God’s Touch Apartment and Hotels between 2024 and 2025, dishonestly converted N64,764,830 belonging to the company for personal use.
Olaomo is accused of similarly converting N26,082,400 belonging to the same organisation within the same period while serving as an accountant.
The other two defendants, Ikwugwu and Abiodun, were arraigned before Justice Olubunmi Abike-Fadipe of the Special Offences Court on a five-count charge of conspiracy, stealing and retention of proceeds of crime.
Ikwugwu, a duty manager at God’s Touch Apartment Hotel, allegedly stole and converted N1,966,000 belonging to the hotel in June 2025.
Abiodun, who served as the hotel’s auditor, is accused of converting N1,500,000 belonging to the same organisation within the same period.
All four defendants pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to them.
Following the plea, prosecuting counsel B. M. Isah and U. S. Kyari asked the court to fix trial dates and remand the defendants in a correctional facility pending trial. Isah also informed the court that the prosecution had been served with a bail application filed by Mathew.
Counsel to Mathew, I. A. Salau, did not oppose the request for a trial date but urged the court to grant his client bail on liberal terms.
Justice Okunuga subsequently ordered that Mathew and Olaomo be remanded in a correctional facility and adjourned the matter until March 17, 2026, for the hearing of Mathew’s bail application.
Justice Abike-Fadipe adjourned the case involving Ikwugwu and Abiodun until March 16, 2026, for the hearing of their bail application and May 20, 2026, for the commencement of trial.
