A Celestial Church of Christ evangelist, Abidemi Odukoya, and his wife, Adenike, have reportedly died in separate circumstances following an alleged domestic altercation at their residence in the Akinode/Ibogun community of Ogun State.
The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of Monday, August 25, 2026, after the couple allegedly engaged in a domestic dispute that escalated into a physical confrontation.
According to accounts from community members, the altercation left Adenike unconscious and seriously injured, while her husband allegedly left the residence.
A former Chairman of the Community Development Association, Adejimi Olawumi, said residents raised an alarm after hearing cries for help. In a video shared by Arole TV on Wednesday, Olawumi said he went to the couple’s residence and found Adenike lying in a pool of blood.
He said community members initially struggled to find transportation to take her to a hospital.
Olawumi said the couple’s son, Daniel, told residents that he had been in another room and did not witness what happened between his parents.
As community members attempted to assist the injured woman, they reportedly discovered that Odukoya was missing. Members of the CDA subsequently launched a search for him and alerted local authorities.
According to Olawumi, the community later received information that the evangelist had been struck by a vehicle in the Ifo area of Ogun State.
He said police officers took Odukoya to a hospital, where his identity was confirmed, while members of the CDA began arrangements to return his remains to the community.
Olawumi described the incident as unprecedented in the community, although he said residents were aware that the couple occasionally had disagreements which they usually resolved privately.
Meanwhile, the evangelist’s younger sister, in a video circulating online, claimed that the couple had experienced repeated disagreements before their deaths.
She reportedly said the couple had visited her around April following an earlier altercation and that the matter was eventually resolved at a police station.
The circumstances surrounding the deaths remain the subject of reports, and further details from law enforcement authorities are awaited.
