Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has revealed that he married his wife, Titi Abubakar, without the consent of their families, adding that no family members were present at their wedding ceremony.
Atiku made this known during the celebration of Titi’s 75th birthday anniversary.
He said, “On the occasion of my beloved wife Titi’s 75th birthday, I am proud to say that I couldn’t have married a better woman. Titi and I got married against our parents’ wishes, in the most daring way, with no family members—only two friends present.”
Reflecting on their union of over 50 years, the former Vice President added, “Titi has been a blessing beyond measure to me and our family. I don’t even know how we started calling ourselves ‘Mummy’ and ‘Daddy.’”
He concluded with a message of gratitude and advice for couples: “I thank her for being patient with my shortcomings. Patience is a virtue you can never regret. I encourage spouses to continue to be patient with each other. I wish Titi many more years of bliss and blessings.”
