The Nigerian Army has concluded the 2025 edition of Exercise MUGUN BUGU IV with a coordinated, deliberate attack and an impressive firepower demonstration at the Grand Stand in Angwan Machika, Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The closing ceremony marked the end of weeks of intensive field training aimed at enhancing operational readiness and sharpening the Nigerian Army’s counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency capabilities.
Representing the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, the Commander Training and Doctrine Command, Major General Peter Malla, said the exercise brought together Combat Arms, Combat Support Arms, and Combat Service Support elements from various Army training schools.
He described the exercise as another testament to the Army’s strategic cohesion and unyielding commitment to safeguarding the nation.
Major General Malla explained that the firepower demonstration was the climax of extensive planning and coordination designed to replicate real battlefield conditions.
He commended participating troops for their professionalism, discipline and tactical brilliance, noting that the exercise showcased the Army’s growing innovation and capability.
Katsina State Governor, Umar Dikko Radda, in his remarks, applauded the Army for its ongoing sacrifices in combating banditry and other criminal threats.
He expressed deep appreciation to the COAS for providing the necessary resources, especially within a short time in office, to conduct the exercise in the Faskarian area that has faced repeated security challenges.
The governor said he hoped the exercise would significantly contribute to restoring peace and stability in the region.
Highlights of the event included the presentation of souvenirs to the Special Guest of Honour and other dignitaries, cultural performances by local troupes, an After Action Review to assess lessons from the exercise, and a campfire night to close the activities on a convivial note.
The District Head of Faskari also presented a special souvenir to the Exercise Director to deliver to the COAS.
