The headmaster of Nomadic Basic School, Igbojaye, in Itesiwaju Local Government Area of Oyo State, Mr. Mathew Kolawole Owoade, has been released by his abductors after spending about 48 hours in captivity.
Owoade, popularly known as Onaiye, was said to have regained his freedom at about 6 p.m. on Monday, July 13, 2026, according to reports.
The school administrator was kidnapped last week, with his abductors reportedly demanding an initial ransom of ₦30 million for his release.
It was gathered that after negotiations with the family, the ransom demand was reduced to ₦3 million, which relatives reportedly struggled to raise. However, before the money could be delivered, the kidnappers allegedly increased the amount to ₦5 million.
Sources said the family eventually paid the ₦5 million before the abductors released the headmaster near the Ajebamidele community.
Following his release, Owoade was reunited with members of his family.
Security agencies had yet to issue an official statement confirming the development as of the time of filing this report.
