Dear Fellow Yewas,
A Yoruba adage says, Omo Eni Ko ni Sedi Bebere, Ki a Fi Ileke Sidi Omo Elomiran” (One does not adorn a stranger’s loins with beads when one’s daughter’s loins is ready for it), as translated by one of my respected teacher and mentor, Professor Nelson Fashina of the Department of English, University of Ibadan (UI). On this note, I make this clear that in the grand narrative of Ogun West, and particularly, Yewaland, the moment has come for a people to rise above sentiments and assert their right to development, dignity, and true representation. This is the moment the zone needs cohesion and cohesiveness to rally round only one person, queue behind that undisputable strong, knowledgeable and formidable candidate to bring power to the Yewaland, for the very first time, in the history of Ogun State, since its creation in February 3, 1976 (46 years) years ago, when power keep rotating among the Egba, Remo, and Ijebu. So far, Remo has produced two democratically elected governors, each completing two terms in persons of Gbenga Daniel from Sagamu Remo, and Dapo Abiodun, Iperu-Remo, with one military governor from Odogbolu Remo in person of General Oladipupo Diya and from the same axis, Olabisi Onabanjo from Ijebu Ode. Abeokuta also has its two eminent persons as the governor of the state, Chief Olusegun Osoba and Senator Ibikunle Amosun. Truthfully, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, affectionately known as Yayi, is the candidate who will bring about this opportunity to Yewaland. This is a truth that need not only be stated and emphasised but reiterated.
Let it be further reiterated that Yewa has long hoped and waited for government presence in economic revitalisation, political balance, infrastructure renewal, and a voice that reverberates beyond the halls of power and into the lives of the people. That hope is not just a pipe dream anymore. One man, YAYI, now represents it: a tried-and-true son of the land whose record of sacrifice and service speaks louder than trillions of words.
It needs to be got straight that Yaya will not be the first “Omowale” in the political anal of the South West, beyond the fact that whether you are Ekiti, Ondo, Osun, Oyo, Ogun, and even, Lagos, we are all Omo Oduduwa, the Yorubas, domiciled in the South Western part of Nigeria, distinctly known for, “Omoluabi’ ethos. Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, aka, YAYI, became the biblical Joseph, whose mind would not be at rest in his palatial mansion in Egypt as a second in command to the Egyptian’s monarch Pharao, if he fails to feed his biological relatives in the time of famine and relocates from either his Lagos or Abuja nationalised homes to his Yewa home of his state of origin. Joseph sent food to his people in Israel, brought them to wealth and never stopped thinking about building his homeland in a strange land. This is why YAYI felt he has to return to his people and shares his physical and abstract wealth with them. Can we say YAYI, whose paternal and maternal roots is Ogun is not ours? “Ndao”, “Kamari”, “Tufiakwa” and God forbid. Let the facts do the talking. Yewa’s proud son is Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, aka YAYI. His investments, involvement in the community, and grassroots activism demonstrate that he is not just concerned in winning elections but also in leaving a lasting legacy. In a way that few leaders ever do, he reconnected, recreated, and rekindled the Yewa spirit instead of parachute-in. He is truly the son of the land.
The business of government is not new to YAYI. He has continuously been performing, first in the Lagos State House of Assembly, then in the House of Representatives, and finally, as a distinguished senator from Lagos West and now Ogun West. He builds roads, schools and rehabilitates lots of infrastructures. Empowerment programmess were introduced as transforming instruments for common people, not as tokens. Besides, he is a grassroots politician, who believes all should be carried along. He is plain, accessible, trusted and reliable, that I am confident about. These are leadership traits.
Senator YAYI has not slowed down since relocating his political base to Ogun State. He has quickly established a federal presence in long-neglected villages. The list is expanding and includes solar-powered boreholes, town halls, ICT centres, rural electrification, skill-building initiatives, and scholarships. And this is only the start.
The Yewas should understand that Yewa’s greatest need is not simply development, it is recognition. The area has been excluded from Ogun State’s power structures for far too long. Senator YAYI gives national weight in addition to local promises. He is in a strong position to advocate, negotiate, and draw government attention to Yewa’s issues and plights because he is a ranking and senior senator with close connections throughout Nigeria’s political system and beyond. Political experimentation and split loyalties are not appropriate at this moment. Yewa needs to send someone who can stand side by side with Nigeria’s influential people while yet bowing down to the Ipokia students, the Imeko farmers, the Ilaro elders, the Imala People, and the Oja-Odan market women, among others.
If Yewa speaks with one voice, it will echo beyond ballots. A block vote for Solomon Olamilekan Adeola is a statement, not just of support, but of strategic intent. It says to the rest of Ogun State and the entire nation: “We are united, we are ready, and we have chosen our best.” YAYI is the best for 2027 governorship race. I call on other aspirants from Yewa to queue behind YAYI so that we can all be victors.
The strength of any people lies in their unity. History has shown that a divided house builds shaky future. But when a people come together, and when they close ranks for a common goal, they become unstoppable.
This election is not just about YAYI, it’s about Yewa’s future. It is about good roads, jobs for the youth, dignity for our elders, allocations and projects signed to Yewa are not fraudulently hijacked, and a stronger voice in the state and national affairs. It is about ensuring that Yewa’s children grow up not as second-class citizens as it has been made to be, but as proud inheritors of a zone on the rise.
The time has come for Yewa to make a bold choice. Not just a political one, but a generational one. Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola is not perfect, no one is. But he is prepared, passionate, and able. He is a bridge between where Yewa is today and where it can be tomorrow.
So let every town, every ward, every household rise in unity. Let the drums of support roll through Ayetoro, Imala, Ipokia, Imeko-Afon, Ado-Odo, Igbogila, Ilobi, Ijanna, Ilaro, Idogo, Iwoye , Oke-Odan, Itoro, Owode, Erinja, Ajilete, Olute, Iweke, Ipaja, Itolu, Eredo , Abule Olopa, Idologum, Pahayi, Fagbohun, Olokuta, Oja-Odan, Tata, Ibese, Isaga, Iboro, Joga, Idofoyi, Tibo, Keesan, Igan-Okoto, Sawonjo, Idi-Emi, Isata, Obada, Imasayi, Ibese, Joga, Tibo, Keesan, Sawonjo, and Ketu, among others.
Let the votes speak the will of a people ready for change. As a believer of what I preach, trust me, I shall return home to cast my only vote, for the very first time that I will vote in Nigeria for YAYI.
Rally round Senator YAYI. Give him YEWA block votes. Give Yewa a chance to rise and you will be blessed for it.
Yours sincerely,
Oluwagbemiro Adesina
Your son and brother
