Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has called for stronger global collaboration and sustained investment in science and health systems as the world commemorates World Health Day 2026.
In a message marking the annual observance, themed “Together for Health. Stand with Science,” the First Lady highlighted the critical role of innovation and international cooperation in advancing global health outcomes.
She noted that scientific partnerships have historically enabled humanity to overcome numerous health challenges and remain essential in promoting healthier living.
Tinubu also drew attention to the growing importance of the One Health approach, a framework that recognises the interconnectedness of human, animal, plant, and environmental health.
According to her, this integrated perspective is vital for addressing emerging health threats and ensuring sustainable well-being across communities.
He said, “As we mark this important day as a global community, let us continue to support science, invest in health systems, and work together to build a healthier and more resilient world for all.”
World Health Day, observed every April 7, provides an opportunity to raise awareness on key health issues and mobilise action to improve public health worldwide.
