The police authority in Oyo State has stated that it has arrested the three policemen sighted in a viral video demanding money from a Dutch female biker identified as Itchy Boots who was on a tour of Nigeria from the Netherlands.
In a viral video, two out of the three policemen on Moniya-Iseyin road identified as Special Constable Kareem Fatai and Jimoh Lukman were seen demanding for bribe from a Dutch bike rider on her way to the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja to process a Cameroon visa.
The Oyo Police command stated in its post on X on Thursday, assuring that the policemen would be punished for the shameful act and for bringing the country to disrepute.
The Command noted, “The viral video portraying the regrettable misconduct of certain (sic) along Moniya-Iseyin road has been accessed. All those involved have been apprehended for immediate disciplinary actions. Supervision will be increased. Please report any misconduct to Xsquad on +2348023535470.”
However, the Force PRO, Muyiwa Adejobi said that the incident happened at Ojongbodu area along Iseyin/Ogbomosho Road in Oyo, Oyo State, adding ” have been appended. “The Constabularies were arrested by the police authority for their unprofessional, unacceptable, and punishable acts.
In the video, three policemen had flagged down the biker, asking her where she was from and where she was heading.
The female Dutch biker told them that she was from the Netherlands and she was on her way to Abuja.
Interacting with the biker further in pidgin, the officers asked the Dutch, How are you and How is everything?
“Everything is fine”, the Dutch lady answered.
“Where are you from? The police man asked.
“Netherlands”, the Dutch lady replied.
“Where are you going?” The policemen asked.
“Abuja”, she replied.
“Wetin you bring come? Wetin you won give me. O ya, give me something nah”, the policemen said.
“You also, give me something”, the lady responded with laughter.
Kareem reiterated, “Give me money, money”.
At this point, the third policeman called one of the two policemen demanding money from the lady to allow the lady to go, stressing that what they were doing might land them into a big problem.
Jimoh then told Kareem, ” We have been asked to leave her because what we are doing may put us into a big problem”.
