Panic gripped Marina, Lagos Island, on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, when a fire broke out at the United Bank for Africa (UBA) branch in the busy commercial district.
Eyewitnesses said thick smoke was seen billowing from the multi-storey building, forcing bank staff and customers to scamper for safety.
Some employees were spotted jumping from the upper floors in desperate attempts to escape the raging flames.
The immediate cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, but emergency responders have since moved to the scene to contain the blaze.
Authorities confirmed that no casualties had been recorded as of the time of filing this report.
The incident caused heavy traffic gridlock around Marina, with onlookers thronging the area while security operatives worked to restore order.
Officials of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, alongside other emergency teams, are currently conducting operations to put out the fire and secure the premises.
UBA management has yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
