A veteran Nollywood actress and former aid toOgbeni Rauf Aregbesola, the current Minister of Interior, Toyin Adegbola, popularly known as Toyin Tomato or Asewo to Mecca, caused trouble on Saturday March 27, 2022, at the Shoprite grocery store situated at Ring Road, Ibadan, after her daughter was molested for allegedly shoplifting.
Adegbola said she was on admission at the hospital and had to disconnected a drip that was being administered to her when she learnt of the incident and rushed to Shoprite, in fierce anger. She threatened to sue the shopping mall for accusing her daughter of what she did not do.
Demanding the CCTV footage that recorded where and how her daughter stole from the mall, she said, “I am here to make trouble with you. You molested my daughter. A married woman.”
The actress, who posted the video of the incident on her Instagram page, also demanded to see the security man that raised false alarm against her daughter, adding that the management of the mall should produce him so that he could explain to her how he caught her daughter shoplifting.
It was gathered from someone who narrated what happened that in the process of coming out of the mall and the goods purchased were checked by the security man on duty, it was discovered that a particular oil cream of about N1,800 was not on the receipt. In the process, the security man, identified as Destiny, refused to go and check with the cashier and instead molested and beat up the lady, accusing her of shoplifting.
However, in the video, the entire staff of shoprite were seen prostrating and kneeling down to apologise for the mix-up.
At the end of the video clip, Toyin told her supporters that the issue was being resolved.
