An 18 year old first year student of Federal College of Animal Health and Production, Moore Plantation, Apata, Ibadan, Bello Barakat, has been reportedly raped and murdered on June 1 2020, by unknown men at Akinyele area of Ibadan, Oyo state.
It was gathered that the victim was having her bath at the bathroom located at the side of her parents house when she heard strange noise coming from the house.
She must had rushed to the house to check what was going on and on sighting the perpetrators, they raped, strangled and butchered her with a matchete.
When her brother, who is about eight years old, came back home and met her in a pool of her blood, he screamed and neighbours came around to meet the gory sight.
The body was taken to Kara Police Station. The police later returned the body to the family and she was buried according to Islamic rites.
Barakat’s Mother, Mrs Kafayat Bello, who was in tears, said they were looking forward to when she will start taking care of the family and now she was killed in her prime.
The two buckets Barakat was using for bathing were still by the bathroom, and the pool of blood has been covered with sand, though the spot was still obvious.
Barakat Bello’s rape and murder is comes barely two weeks after Uwaila Omozuwa, a 100 level Microbiology student of the University of Benin, was raped and murdered at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Ikpoba Hill, Benin City on May 13.
