Unknown gunmen have killed Mrs. Olayemi Odetomi, wife of a former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in Oyo State, Peter Odetomi in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital .
It was gathered that the 66-year-old woman was shot at her home around Bodija-Ashi Area of Ibadan early Friday morning.
Confirming the incident to newsmen, the spokesperson of Oyo State Police Command, Adewale Osifeso, said the deceased was killed by armed robbers in her home.
“The deceased, Olayemi Odetomi, aged 66yrs, died on the spot after being shot during a robbery incident which occurred during the early hours of Friday 25th June, 2021 in her home. Updates on Investigations would be provided in due course”, Osifeso said.
Her husband, Peter Odetomi, who was a former chairman of Ogbomoso South Local Government Area of Oyo State served as a commissioner during the administration of late Governor Abiola Ajimobi. He was the deputy governorship candidate to Ajimobi in the 2007 election on the platform of the defunct All Nigeria People’s Party (ANPP).
