Dr. Ayo Osisanwo of the Department of English, Faculty of Arts, Dr. Adenike O. Olatunji-Akioye of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, and Adebola Kehinde Ojo of the Department of Computer Science, are among the academics the University of Ibadan (UI) promoted to the rank of full professor on Monday, October 29, 2025.
The promotions are widely seen as recognition of the trio’s outstanding academic achievements, scholarly contributions, and commitment to advancing knowledge across their respective disciplines.
Their promotions have drawn tributes from colleagues, family, friends, and former students who describe them as passionate and transformative teachers.

Professor Adenike O. Olatunji-Akioye
Professor Osisanwo, a renowned scholar in Phonetics and Phonology, discourse analysis, and pragmatics, is celebrated for his dedication to teaching, research, and mentorship. His promotion has drawn tributes from colleagues and former students who describe him as a passionate and transformative teacher.
Information obtained on the internet shows that Osinsanwo is a Senior Researcher at the Institute of English Studies, Leuphana Universität, Lüneburg, Germany, a Postdoctoral Fellow of the African Humanities Programme (AHP) of the American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS), New York, USA; a 2020 Grantee, Remote-mentorship, African Humanities Program (AHP) of the American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS), Department of Linguistics, University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania; and a Fellow of the Georg Forster Fellowship for Experienced Researchers, Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, Germany.
Olatunji-Akioye specialises in Diagnostic Imaging, Gastroenterology, and her research primarily focuses on the physiological impacts of various conditions on animal health, with a particular interest in histomorphometry and the effects of ischemia-reperfusion injury.

Adebola Kehinde Ojo
Ojo’s research interests span data mining, artificial intelligence, computer networks, cybersecurity, Computer Communications (Networks), and Computer Architecture.
