The Appointments and Promotions Committee for Academic Staff of the University of Ibadan (UI) has promoted 38 lecturers to the professorial cadre, among is Dr Olufunke Ezekiel of the Department of Food Technology, who is the first Female lecture to reach professorial cadre since the inception of the Faculty of Technology in 1975.
According to a Special Release No. 4918, signed by the institution’s Registrar and Secretary to Council, G. O. Saliu, 15 of the newly promoted academics were elevated to the rank of substantive professor, while the remaining 23 were promoted to Readers (Associate Professors).
The new professors are:

Dr. Stella I. Odiaka – Adult Education;
Dr. Olufunke O. Ezekiel – Food Technology;
