Two lecturers from the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS), Engr. Emmanuel Odu and Engr. Ndifon Vincent, have been declared missing while returning to Calabar from Lagos, where they had reportedly gone to purchase a car.
The incident occurred on Friday, May 23, 2025, in Imo State, according to an official statement issued in circular number 478 by the university’s Registrar, Victor Ephriam Ene.
The statement disclosed that the university’s Acting Vice Chancellor and the management team have been in continuous communication with the Cross River State Commissioner of Police and the State Director of the Department of State Services (DSS). Both security chiefs have confirmed that they are actively collaborating with their counterparts in Imo State to locate the missing academics.
Describing the situation as deeply troubling, the university management expressed its sympathy to the families and friends of the missing lecturers. They also urged members of the public with any useful information about their whereabouts to contact security agencies immediately or call the number provided in the university-issued flier.

Meanwhile, the UNICROSS community remains hopeful, with prayers ongoing for the safe return of the two lecturers.
