A farmer identified as Musa Labaran has reportedly lost five of his children in a boat mishap that occurred on Wednesday in Kebbi State.
The incident occured while a boat conveying Labaran and his five children as well as two other passengers to their farms across the river capsized around Yauri community as a result of heavy wind.
It was gathered that while the other two passengers were rescued alive, the bodies of four of Labaran’s children were recovered while the remains of his fifth child was yet to be found.
Labaran was quoted to have said: “The four bodies recovered are all of my children, three boys and a girl. The fifth one is a boy and he is yet to be found.
“The boat capsized while we were in the middle of the river. I did my best to save them but couldn’t hold on to five of them. I held on to the girl while trying to swim to the river bank but eventually lost grip of her.”
