President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged Nigerians to embrace productivity, innovation, and enterprise as the country celebrates its 65th Independence Anniversary, declaring that the dawn of a new, self-reliant nation is within reach.
In his Independence Day message on Wednesday, Tinubu described the anniversary as a time of renewed hope and a call to action, assuring that the federal government remains committed to strengthening the foundations of the nation’s economy.
“On this 65th Anniversary of our Independence, my message is hope and a call to action. The federal government will continue to do its part to fix the plumbing in our economy. Now, we must all turn on the taps of productivity, innovation, and enterprise, just like the Ministry of Interior has done with our travel passports, by quickening the processing”, he said.
The president urged state governments and local authorities to collaborate more actively in the nation-building process.
He called on citizens to focus on local production, patronise made-in-Nigeria goods, and contribute to national development through tax compliance.
“Let us be a nation of producers, not just consumers. Let us farm our land and build factories to process our produce. Let us patronise ‘Made-in-Nigeria’ goods. I say Nigeria first. Let us pay our taxes,” Tinubu stated.
Reiterating his confidence in Nigeria’s future, the president called on all citizens to believe in the country’s potential and work collectively to realise it.
“Finally, let all hands be on deck. Let us believe, once more, in the boundless potential of our great nation. With Almighty God on our side, I can assure you that the dawn of a new, prosperous, self-reliant Nigeria is here”, he said.
Tinubu concluded by wishing Nigerians a happy 65th Independence Anniversary and prayed for continued blessings on the nation.
