President Bola Tinubu has nominated Dr. Bernard Doro from Plateau State as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, forwarding his name to the Senate for confirmation.
The nomination follows the exit of Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, who was elected National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in July.
The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, revealed this in a statement issued today.
According to the Presidency, the President had, during a private meeting with some of his aides on Monday night, resolved to fill two vacant ministerial positions, including that of the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, who resigned a few weeks ago.
Born on January 23, 1969, in Kwall, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, Dr. Doro is a seasoned professional with more than 20 years of experience in clinical practice, pharmaceutical management, strategic leadership, and community development across the United Kingdom and Nigeria.
“Dr. Doro holds degrees in Pharmacy and Law, an MBA with a focus on IT-driven business strategy, and a Master’s in Advanced Clinical Practice,” Onanuga stated.
“He is also an Independent Prescriber and Advanced Clinical Practitioner with frontline experience in the UK’s National Health Service (NHS), having worked in urgent care centres, walk-in clinics, general practices, and hospitals”, he added.
Beyond his professional career, Doro is widely recognised for his active involvement in youth mentorship and community empowerment initiatives, both within the Nigerian diaspora and at home.
If confirmed by the Senate, Dr. Doro will be sworn in by President Tinubu at a forthcoming meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC).
