President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Sunday, September 21, 2025, led Nigerians at home and abroad in celebrating the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on the occasion of her 65th birthday.
The celebration was marked by an outpouring of tributes to the First Lady, by family, friends, political associates, captains of industry, and religious leaders, who many described as a committed public servant, astute politician, and a woman of faith.
Ahead of the event, Senator Tinubu made a passionate appeal for support toward the completion of the National Library in Abuja, which she described as a cause “close to my heart.” She urged well-meaning Nigerians to make contributions through the Oluremi at 65 Education Fund, coordinated by the Federal Ministry of Education. “This will be the best birthday present I am going to receive,” she said, adding that her love for education inspired the gesture.
In a heartfelt tribute, President Tinubu praised his wife’s resilience, devotion, and sacrifices through their years of political struggle and leadership. “As you celebrate your 65th birthday today, I honour not only the love of my life, but also a woman whose quiet strength and enduring grace have been my steadying anchor,” he wrote. “You are more than my wife. You are my confidant, counsellor, and the steady flame illuminating my path.”
The President lauded her as a role model for compassion and faith, noting that her contributions to Nigeria, though often away from the limelight, were invaluable. “Nigeria owes you more than many will ever know… As your husband, I thank God for your life, health, and unwavering love. As your President, I salute you as the First Lady whose warmth and empathy continue to touch millions of lives.”
Chief of Staff to the President, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, also extolled the First Lady’s humanitarian and philanthropic work, describing her as an inspiration. “From the New Era Foundation to the Renewed Hope Initiatives, you have impacted so many lives. May you continue in your service to God and humanity,” he said.
