President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the Super Eagles on their emphatic 4–0 victory over the Cheetahs of Benin Republic, commending the team for keeping Nigeria’s World Cup dream alive as the qualification race for the 2026 FIFA World Cup intensifies.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the President lauded the team’s hunger, passion, and determination during the match played in Uyo, describing their performance as “superlative” and one that has reignited the nation’s pride in football.
“While the job is not yet complete, I join millions of Nigerian football fans in wishing our team every success in the playoffs,” Tinubu said.
The President noted that the mood across the country reflects a renewed belief that Nigeria deserves a place at the 2026 World Cup, which will be hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
Assuring the players and coaching crew of full government backing, President Tinubu pledged continued support to ensure Nigeria’s qualification for the global tournament.
