President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will return to Abuja on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, after ending his annual vacation earlier than planned.
The development was confirmed on Monday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, who announced that the President had concluded his work-leave ahead of schedule.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has concluded his work vacation ahead of schedule and will return to Abuja on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, to resume official duties,” Onanuga stated.
Tinubu left Nigeria on September 4 for France, where he was billed to spend part of his holiday before continuing to the United Kingdom. While in Paris, he held a private luncheon with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace. Both leaders reportedly reviewed bilateral ties and pledged deeper cooperation in areas critical to mutual prosperity and global stability.
The trip marked Tinubu’s seventh visit to France since assuming office in May 2023. It also came on the heels of his participation in the July BRICS Summit and the TICAD9 meeting in Japan in August.
In just nine months of 2025, the President has undertaken 15 international trips spanning 11 countries. These trips have covered multilateral summits, bilateral engagements, state functions, and his annual vacation.
His foreign itinerary began on January 6 with a trip to Accra, Ghana, where he attended the inauguration of President John Dramani Mahama. He later visited the United Arab Emirates for the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Summit (January 12–16), where he also held trade and energy discussions with Gulf investors.
On January 27–28, Tinubu was in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, for the Africa Heads of State Energy Summit. He then attended the 37th African Union Summit in Ethiopia in February, contributing to deliberations on security, climate change, and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
In April, he embarked on a two-week working tour of France and the United Kingdom, continuing his diplomatic shuttle that has defined his presidency.
