President Bola Ahmed Tinubu arrived in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on Sunday, January 11, 2026, to participate in the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week.
The presidential aircraft landed at the Zayed International Airport at about 11:30 pm local time, where Tinubu was received by the UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Shakhboot Nahyan Al Nahyan.
The visit is at the official invitation of the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week is an annual global platform that brings together world leaders, policymakers, industry experts and civil society organisations to deliberate on energy innovation, climate action and the financing frameworks needed to drive renewable energy transitions.
In a statement earlier issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the trip was described as a reflection of the growing strategic partnership between Nigeria and the UAE, especially in the areas of green energy and economic collaboration.
At the summit, President Tinubu is expected to project Nigeria as a key destination for sustainable development initiatives, with a focus on attracting foreign investment and building partnerships that support the country’s economic growth agenda.
The 2026 edition of the summit, themed “The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go,” is centred on translating climate commitments into concrete outcomes through three core pillars—innovation, finance and people.
