President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, as the Renewed Hope Ambassador ahead of the national launch of the Federal Government’s Ward Development Programme, pointing out that the appointment takes immediate effect.
Uzodimma, who also chairs the Progressive Governors Forum, will simultaneously serve as the Director-General for Party Outreach, Engagement and Mobilisation.
According to the Presidency, the governor will work closely with the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and all APC governors to “evangelise” the administration’s policies and programmes.
He is expected to drive harmony, inclusiveness, and strategic coordination across all levels of the ruling party while leading efforts to mobilise and engage citizens nationwide.
Other APC governors will also serve as Ambassadors of Hope in their respective states.
President Tinubu charged Uzodimma and his colleagues to vigorously promote the achievements of his administration since taking office in May 2023.
The President noted that his reform agenda has begun yielding tangible economic gains, including seven consecutive months of slowing inflation, down to 16.05 per cent in October, and a stabilised exchange rate.
He also highlighted the rise in Nigeria’s foreign reserves, which now stand at over $46 billion, up from the $32 billion and the net reserve of $4 billion his administration inherited in 2023.
The President added that investor confidence has improved significantly, with renewed inflows of Foreign Direct Investment and portfolio investments, particularly in the oil and gas sector.
He said the stock market is experiencing historic growth, while diversification efforts in solid minerals are strengthening the economy.
Tinubu further pointed to the government’s liberalised educational loan scheme, which has already enrolled over 700,000 students, and the reduction of passport processing time to under one week.
In a message addressed to the newly appointed Renewed Hope Ambassador, the President urged Uzodimma to ensure that Nigerians fully understand the administration’s milestones and the progress being made under the Renewed Hope agenda.
