President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has accepted the resignation of Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, following allegations levelled against the minister.
According to Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President (Information and Strategy), Nnaji, who was appointed in August 2023, announced his resignation on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, in a letter addressed to the President.
In the letter, he expressed gratitude to Tinubu for the opportunity to serve the country, describing his time in office as a privilege.
The former minister, however, said he had been the target of sustained blackmail by political opponents, a situation he suggested contributed to his decision to step down.
President Tinubu, in accepting Nnaji’s resignation, commended him for his service to the nation and wished him success in his future endeavours.
The resignation marks the first major exit from the President’s cabinet since the ministers were inaugurated in 2023.
