Amidst tears and chaos, the remains of the late Nigerian gospel singer, Bunmi Akinnaanu, popularly known as “Omije Oju Mi’, were buried at the Atan Cemetery, Yaba, Lagos, on Thursday, January 29, 2026.
Bunmi Akinnaanu, who died on Monday, January 12, 2026, was buried beside the Nollywood actress and filmmaker, late Allwell Ademola, who died recently.
The arrival of her remains in a white casket was deeply emotional, drawing tears from family members and well-wishers. Her two children and family members were clad in complete white attire.

Trouble started when a sister of the husband of the deceased singer, who was absent from the funeral, decided to call her brother on WhatsApp video call, insisting that he should be allowed to pay his last respects to his wife on a video call.
This move was opposed by the deceased’s children and her family, but she insisted that the deceased would not be buried unless the husband was allowed to be heard.
In annoyance, the deceased son rejected his father, saying, “I am not Adeoye. I am not Adeoye’s family.”
Earlier, the deceased children had accused their father of neglecting his responsibility and leaving their mother uncared for, stressing that during the time their mother was in the hospital, their father never showed up to identify with her.
They also accused their father of failing to perform his fatherly responsibility to them, pointing out that it was their mother alone who had been there for them.
The chaos became uncontrollable until one of the deceased children fainted and was rushed to an undisclosed hospital; consequently, the deceased children could not perform the dust-to-dust rite.
