The National Assembly today (Tuesday, September 23, 2025) has reopened the office of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, months after it was sealed over her suspension.
Her office, located in Suite 2.05 of the Senate Wing, was unsealed by the Deputy Director, Sargent at Arms, National Assembly, Abuja, Alabi Adedeji.
Unsealing it, “Adedeji said, ” I, Alabi Adedeji, the Deputy Director, Sergeant at Arms, unseal the office of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.”
The office had been locked since March 6, 2025, following her six-month suspension from the Senate. The lawmaker was punished for alleged misconduct during a protest against the reassignment of her seat by Senate President Godswill Akpabio on February 20.

In a video shared on Tuesday, the Deputy Director of the Sergeant-at-Arms, Alabi Adedeji, was seen removing the red seal. “I, Alabi Adedeji, Deputy Director, Sergeant-at-Arms, hereby unseal the office. The office is hereby unsealed. Thank you,” he declared.
Although her suspension formally lapsed in September, Akpoti-Uduaghan was unable to return due to legal battles and resistance from Senate leadership.
In July, a Federal High Court in Abuja ruled the suspension “excessive and unconstitutional,” further strengthening her case for reinstatement.
She had earlier written to the Senate, notifying it of her intention to resume, but her request was turned down.
It is not yet clear if Tuesday’s action grants her full access to her office and parliamentary duties, as the Senate has not issued an official resolution.
Her status will likely be clarified when lawmakers reconvene for plenary on October 7.
