The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and his Ogun State counterpart, Dapo Abiodun, were the only two South West governors absent at the historic coronation of the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, held on Friday at Mapo Hall, Ibadan.
The ceremony attracted a host of dignitaries, including Governors Ademola Adeleke of Osun, Abiodun Oyebanji of Ekiti, and Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State, who joined Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, the host, to celebrate the new monarch.
Also present were prominent traditional rulers such as the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III; the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi; the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Olaoye; the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade I; the Olugbo of Ugbo Kingdom, Oba Dr. Frederick Akinruntan; and the Eleruwa of Eruwa, Oba Samuel Adegbola.
Other notable guests included Oyo State Deputy Governor, Bayo Lawal; former Ogun State governors, Senator Gbenga Daniel and Senator Ibikunle Amosun; former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd); and the Iyaloja-General of Nigeria, Folasade Tinubu-Ojo, daughter of President Bola Tinubu.
