The District Overseer of the Apostolic Faith Church, West and Central Africa (WECA), Rev. Isaac Adigun, on Sunday, September 14, 2025, formally announced the appointment of Rev Titus Olukayode Itanola as the new Oyo Area Overseer. He succeeds the late Rev Funso Shobowale.
Speaking during the church devotional service at the church headquarters located at Lodge Street, Oke Ado, Ibadan, capital of Oyo State, Rev. Adigun said the appointment was prayerfully considered in consultation with the Board of Trustees (BOT) and with the approval of the Superintendent General of the Apostolic Faith worldwide.

He described Brother Itanola as a dedicated servant of God who, along with his wife, Sister Florence, and their children, Brother Abraham, Sister Mary, and Brother Moses, has been faithful in service to the church.
“Brother Itanola has served in many capacities at the WECA Headquarters for about 14 years. Today, he resumes in Oyo as the new overseer,” Rev. Adigun stated.
Members of the congregation demonstrated their support for the appointment by standing in unison before the new overseer was ordained and prayed for.

In his sermon, Rev. Adigun urged worshippers to see every day as a divine opportunity for breakthrough, deliverance, and new testimonies.
Preaching from Psalm 118:24, Rev. Adigun declared, “May the Lord make today a day of joy and gladness, a special blessing, and a turning point in your life.”
He encouraged the congregation to remain steadfast in faith, assuring them that God’s promises never fail, no matter how long the wait.
Drawing from personal experiences, Rev. Adigun recalled the anticipation before his wedding to his wife, Stella, in July 1987, likening the seven months of waiting to “seventy years.”

He also shared his life-changing encounter with Christ on December 1, 1974, at the Ijebu-Ode Training Centre, describing it as the day his hopelessness turned into “joy unspeakable and full of glory.”
He explained, “My parents put me in a Training centre because they couldn’t afford to send me to secondary school. On a particular day, God made me understand that if I miss it, it may not happen again. God tendered my heart. I went to the back of a classroom in the Ijebu Ode Training Centre. I knelt. I confessed my sins. I prayed. Heaven came down. God change my helplessness, my hopelessness, to joy unspeakable and full of glory. In December 2024, I took my wife to the government training centre, Ijebu Ode. I took her to the same spot, the same classroom, at the back of it. I pointed out the place to her. I told her 50 years ago, this place, Jesus came down and saved my soul. That testimony can be your own today.”

Rev. Adigun told the faithful that just as the Israelites were delivered after 430 years in Egypt, amounting to one fifty-seven thousand and sixty days, God could bring instant answers to prayers today. “Your deliverance and answer take just one moment as far as God is concerned, and why will that not be today?” he asked.
Meanwhile, Brother Itanola formally accepted his appointment as the Oyo Area Overseer, describing it as a sacred responsibility entrusted to him by God and the church.
In his acceptance speech, Itanola expressed gratitude for the confidence reposed in him and assured the congregation of his commitment to spiritual growth and physical well-being of the flock.

He pledged that his leadership in the Oyo Area would focus on strengthening the presence of God in line with Exodus 25:8, while anchoring his ministry on prayer, holiness, and service.
Quoting Judges 8:23, he emphasised humility in leadership: “I will not rule over you; the Lord shall rule over you.”

He further prayed that the grace of God would continually rest upon the church.
