Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has expressed deep sorrow over the abduction of 25 students of Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, in Kebbi State and the killing of the school’s Vice Principal by armed bandits.
In a statement issued on Monday, Mrs. Tinubu described the attack as “heartbreaking,” noting that it violated the sanctity of learning environments and the safety that schools are meant to guarantee.
“I am deeply saddened by the news of the abduction of the 25 students… and the tragic killing of the Vice Principal. This heartbreaking incident is not only an attack on innocent girls and dedicated educators, but an assault on the values of safety and learning that schools embody”, she said.
The First Lady revealed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has already directed security agencies to ensure the swift and safe rescue of the abducted students and to bring the perpetrators to justice.
She extended her condolences to the bereaved family and expressed solidarity with the affected community.
“My heart and prayers are with the families, friends, loved ones, and schoolmates at this time,” she added, offering prayers for the quick rescue of the kidnapped girls and for the Vice Principal’s soul to “rest in Aljannah Firdaus.”
Mrs. Tinubu reaffirmed her commitment to standing with families affected by insecurity and called for collective vigilance and unity in confronting criminality across the nation.
