The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, joined her counterparts from across Africa in Banjul, The Gambia, on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, for the 12th Edition of the MERCK Foundation First Ladies Initiative Committee (FLIC) Meeting.
At the event, the First Ladies, in collaboration with the MERCK Foundation, unveiled Ray of Hope Animation Pictures, a powerful advocacy tool aimed at raising awareness about childhood cancer, promoting early detection, and inspiring compassion and support for children and families affected by the disease across the continent.
Senator Tinubu reaffirmed Nigeria’s unwavering commitment to improving healthcare access, empowering women and children, and supporting initiatives that bring hope to families battling cancer and other health challenges.
While in Banjul, the Nigerian First Lady also met with members of the Nigerian ECOMOG contingent serving in The Gambia, commending their dedication and patriotism in representing the nation with honour and discipline.
She later joined her host, the First Lady of The Gambia, Madam Fatima Bah Barrow, on a tour of an exhibition showcasing Gambian creativity and locally made products, a gesture that further strengthened bilateral ties between Nigeria and The Gambia.
Through her continued engagement with fellow African First Ladies, Senator Tinubu continues to advance the message of Renewed Hope, fostering collaboration, compassion, and collective action for a healthier and more prosperous Africa.
