A devastating fire broke out on Tuesday evening, September 16, 2025, at Emab Plaza, a four-storey commercial building located behind Mandilas on Taiwo Street, Lagos Island. The blaze reportedly started around 7:23 PM, rapidly spreading from the fourth floor and affecting adjoining structures.
The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service has responded, dispatching firefighting crews from the Ebute Elefun and Oniru stations. Deputy Controller-General Olajide Ogabi confirmed that as of 10:00 PM, the rescue operation was still ongoing, with efforts focused on containing the fire and preventing further damage.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and authorities are investigating the incident.
As at the time of filing this report, the fire is still raging and has caused significant property damage, affecting businesses and residents in the vicinity.
