The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), has elected Prof. Chris Piwuna, a consultant psychiatrist at the University of Jos Teaching Hospital, as new president.
Piwuna, a Dean of Student Affairs at the University of Jos (UNIJOS), takes over from Victor Osodeke, a Professor of Soil Science from the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia State.
Piwuna was elected as the new ASUU president at the 23rd National Delegates Congress of the Union held on Sunday, May 11, 2025 in Benin.
The election was contested between Piwuna and Prof. Adamu Babayo from the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, according to verified sources.
