President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will today lead a high-powered delegation to Daura, in Kastina, to witness the burial of Nigeria’s immediate past president, Muhammadu Buhari, who died yesterday in a London hospital.
Following confirmation of Buhari’s death, President Tinubu directed Vice President Kashim Shettima to travel to London and accompany the late president’s remains back to Nigeria for a befitting burial.
According to available information, Buhari’s remains are expected to arrive in the country early Monday and will be flown to his hometown of Daura in Katsina State for interment.
It was also gathered that the burial will be attended by several African leaders.
In honour of the late president, Tinubu has ordered national flags to be flown at half-mast and has summoned an emergency session of the Federal Executive Council, scheduled for Tuesday, July 15, 2025. The late president will be accorded full state honours.
