Ibukun Otesile, the 2026 President of JCI Ibadan Elite, has been released unharmed following her abduction last Thursday, bringing an end to a tense week-long ordeal that shook Ibadan, Oyo State.
The mother of two and daughter of Reverend Dr. Lekan Babatunde, founder of Jesus Is King Ministries, was kidnapped by armed assailants outside her residence on the evening of December 4, 2025.
Her sudden disappearance sparked widespread concern, prompting urgent appeals for her safe return from the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and several non-governmental organizations.
Otesile was recovered on Thursday, December 11, 2025.
While the circumstances surrounding her release remain unclear, including whether a ransom was paid or the role of security agencies, her return has been met with relief and jubilation among family, friends, and the wider community.
The incident has once again highlighted ongoing security challenges in the region, reigniting calls for strengthened measures to protect citizens from such violent crimes.
Authorities are expected to continue investigations into the abduction and apprehend those responsible.
